The Kansas Counseling Association was chartered in 1959 and is a state branch of the American Counseling
Association. As THE association for professional counselors in Kansas, our 640 current members work in a
variety of private practice, community agency and religious institutions, elementary, secondary, and post-
secondary schools and colleges, and university faculty settings.


The mission of the Kansas Counseling Association is to enhance human development through the lifespan and
to promote the counseling profession.

Tax Status:

    Revenue Code.

  • Exempt from federal and state income tax and federal unemployment taxes but subject to unrelated
    business income taxes, sales taxes, property taxes and real estate taxes.


Fiscal Year and Budget

July 1 - June 30. Annual budget process provides approval by general membership of a budget that balances
generated revenue with expenditures. Revenue sources include membership dues, revenue from annual
convention, advertising sales, and sales of mailing lists.

Summary of Reporting Cycle

KCA's internal reporting function is performed quarterly at Executive Council meetings. An annual report is
given at each spring convention to the general membership.
